The President Welcomes Families of Injured Guard Members to White House

President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the White House.

He added that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Devastating Event

US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.

Presidential Offer

The president explained he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both soldiers of the state National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump addressed reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Reaction

Attendees came together over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist public safety in Washington DC.

Remembering the Soldier

“Sarah was the individual that instructors hoped for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s alma mater, informed the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always ready to help others.”

Funeral details for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Legal Measures and Policy Adjustments

Authorities have charged a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The incident prompted the Trump administration to pause refugee claims and halt granting visas to owners of Afghan passports.

Status of the Airman

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the Associated Press.

He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey stated on a news program.

Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she also intended to visit Wolfe’s family.

Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with distinction, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey told the audience at the service. “Though her life was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
