The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Leader.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as pardoning Thanksgiving turkeys, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of pardons issued from the start of the onset of a second term in office.

“If we disregard eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

The event, which both honors and questions the region’s Hispanic tradition of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to emulate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The animal, provided by a first responder, was given its name from the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The craze became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently declared “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the event’s official press release.

“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said the event host, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the spirit of Miami: joyful, multicultural, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Annually, we are proud to celebrate heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Attendees enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and cafecito as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
