Seamer Gus Atkinson Exacerbates the English team's Fitness Problems.

'Significant concern' for the English camp as Atkinson is forced off with a hamstring injury.

The pace bowler added to the injury concerns plaguing England when he left the field during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.

The right-arm seamer pulled up with his hamstring after the final ball that he bowled on Saturday.

Team management reported Atkinson had experienced "tightness" and was to take time off the field to undergo evaluation "over the next few hours".

The final Test in this Ashes battle beginning on 4 January starts this coming Sunday.

England have already lost strike bowlers Mark Wood to a knee injury and another paceman to a side strain during this series.

A replacement bowler was called up as cover for Wood.

Atkinson struggled during the first two matches, claiming a mere three wickets.

He was omitted of the third Test, only to be brought back for the Boxing Day match as Archer's replacement.

Surrey's Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, taking two wickets with the ball, before adding 28 while batting as one of just three teammates who passed ten runs.

After bowling one over at the end of day one, he returned on Saturday morning and dismissed the nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

Yet, at the end of that over, he sent down a variation to the batsman and suddenly grabbed at his leg.

Gus Atkinson was recalled for the fourth Ashes Test after being left out of the third.
