Recent details have emerged regarding the shocking passing of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their residence home on Sunday.
According to a report citing a family associate, a practitioner scheduled for an appointment initially became concerned after being unable to gain access the residence. This individual then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
When she went into the home, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had gone with her promptly called 911. Subsequently, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently being held and is ineligible for bail.
The confidential informant questioned several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the grounds, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.
Furthermore pushed back against widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "concerned" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes reports of alleged "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.
According to law enforcement sources, the coroner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports suggested the condition of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
